Iran is on the move and already dominates governments in Baghdad, Damascus, Beirut and Sana’a, warns Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he addresses a cheering US Congress.
“More will surely follow,” Netanyahu said. “At time when many hope Iran will join community of nations, Iran is busy gobbling up the nations.”
Netanyahu’s entry into the joint session of Congress was greeted by a long standing ovation and people seeking handshakes as he waded through the crowd of legislators – a welcome that broadcast commentators compared to the reception of the US president when he enters the hall for his annual state of the union address.
The speech marks the third time Netanyahu has addressed US Congress, a record matched only by that of former British prime minister Winston Churchill.
