International training Forum to be re-transmitted by Radio Exterior

During this morning has taken place the opening session the III Learning Forum ?Palaver of the Tree?, that according to his co-ordinator, Federico Olivieri, is a ?celebration of the African cinema?. international training forumThis activity promote to the general audience, the cinema and communication professionals and to the students, a meeting between experts and African filmmakers. The journalist and the director of the radio program ?El s?ptimo vicio? (The Seventh Vice) of the National Radio of Spain, Javier Tolentino, will moderate these meetings. Furthermore the program will retransmit the activity during the week in ?Radio 3? and ?Radio Exterior de Espa?a?, so it can be heard out of Spain.

During the opening act, the technical co-ordinator of the Forum, Carlos Dominguez, has thanked to AECID (Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation) their bet to make ?that the culture appears in the international agendas?, through their support to different projects as the Cordoba African Film Festival. In this sense, has marked the importance to know ?the African cinemas, because everything we know about the continent is negative but the reality is richer and wider?.

After that, the FCAT director, Mane Cisneros, has talked about the beginning of the Festival in Tarifa, that according to her was a strategic place because the city is an entrance door of the migrants that cross the Gibraltar Strait. ?We had to act in a urgent way to prepare the Spanish society to know the cultures of these people that were about to join our society, establishing a bridge among the two continents?, and building it ?through the culture and knowledge?.

In the opening was present Clara Ballesteros, co-ordinator of the ACERCA Program and also Laura Mesa from The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), whose support has been essential for the execution of the activity.

Once opened, the Forum has celebrated the first session: the spread of the African cinemas in the Spanish speaker countries. This session has counted on the participation of Javier Estrada (critic of the Caim?n Magazine and the moderator of ?Cinema Appetizers?), Alejandro de Los Santos (FCAT member and director of Afribuku blog, specialized in African cultures) and Vanessa Anaya (FCAT member and co-founder of the cultural organization Wiriko, devoted to the dissemination of African arts and cultures). They have talked about their projects and the need to break the stereotypes and to be a speaker for the cultural transmission.

The ?Palaver Tree Forum? is a training space promoted by Al Tarab and co-organized by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, through the ACERCA Training Programme for development in the Cultural Sector, with the collaboration of FIAPP.
