Ahead of the coronation of a new Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland on Saturday, the political headquarters of Yewa is wearing a new look.
During the coronation, Prince Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle would be presented with the staff of office as well as a Certificate of Coronation by the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

By the chieftaincy law in the state, the Olu of Ilaro is automatically the paramount ruler of Yewaland, with the late Oba Adekanmbi Tella, who joined his ancestors in 2008 as the last occupier of the exalted seat.
Olugbenle, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has been observing the mandatory ‘Ipebi’ (confinement), which will culminate in his coronation on Saturday.

During the confinement, the Olu-elect played host to many prominent indigenes of the town as well as those from outside the town. In the past few weeks, there have been various activities including, football matches, cultural display and others, to mark the coronation.
While playing host to the board members and management of the Ogun State Property and Investment Co-rporation, the monarch stressed the need for unity among the diverse people of Yewa in particular and the state.

Oba Olugbenle, who described his selection as God-chosen, promised that his tenure would witness prosperous reign.
His words: “For sometime now, unity appears to have eluded us for a long time and it is my desire that during my reign, I want to work for the unity of not only Ilaro, but the entire Yewaland. He added that he would encourage Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the infrastructural development of Yewaland canvassing for the support of all and sundry.
Apparently reacting to perceived opposition to his choice, Oba Olugbenle told the team which included the OPIC Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Fadairo, Mr. Ahyoola Afolabi and Mr. Iyanda Kareem among others, that he was chosen by God.

“For me as the Paramount ruler of Yewaland, my choice is not accidental, but the choice of God, who knows better than all mortals.” The Ilaro town is already wearing new looks with banners, posters and various other decorations adorning different parts of the town. The coronation billed for Saturday will hold at the Gateway International Stadium, Ilaro, with reception at the Empire Field with the duo of Ebenezer Obey, who turned 70 last week and Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall entertaining guests.
