IGP Retires Honourably

  • Whiles Korle-Bu CEO Robs Gov?t After Retirement

?The conduct of some public officials during their term in positions leading to their retirement has been always been characterized by acts of ?greed? and dishonor.

indexHowever, the outgoing IGP Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye has set a very satisfactory precedence for other public servants to follow by retiring honorably unlike others who have tried to rob government and the people of Ghana with their ill intents.

Reliable sources close to the Police Headquarters have confirmed that the out-going IGP has attained compulsory retirement age of 60 years, and has been able to retire on a good note, unlike the Former Korle-Bu CEO Prof. Out Nartey, who have ended up robbing the hospital of its resources claiming the his duty post car has been granted to him as his Ex-Gratia.

It is worthy of note that, what is more striking and commendable of the IGP is that, contrary to what has become the norm of most officers due for retirement, like Prof. Out Nartey, our information has it that Mr. Paul Quaye has long written to the President to indicate that he did not intend working with his terminal leave. This is in sharp contrast to rife situations like the one Korle-Bu finds itself, where the former CEO moved heaven and earth to stay on when his retirement was due by allegedly conniving with the Board Chairman Eddie Annan to give him 6 months pro-rata leave after his (Nartey) compulsary retirement, a decision the Ministry of Health kicked against.

Information is that, Eddie Annan is allegedly granting two months salary times four months to Prof. Out Nartey as his end of service benefit after all the rots he purportedly left at the hospital.

The story is told of how some of such public servants and government officials lobbied most influential personalities, including eminent chiefs and politicians to intercede on their behalf for contracts to be granted them upon the expiration of their term of service.

Mr. Paul Quaye did not go that way, but chose to retire honorably, even forgoing his terminal leave, to set precedence in recent times, after having capped a meritorious service to the state with a peaceful and flawless general election in terms of security.

The attitude of Mr. Paul Quaye is exemplary and must be emulate and commended by all.

A source close to the Ghana Police said, Mr ????? Quaye has come, seen and conquered with distinction.

Indeed Mr Paul Quaye has left a legacy with the Ghana Police Service by enhancing police training, community policing, image redeeming in the police service by treating misconduct and irregularities, making sure the police service truly lived up to its responsibilities.

He has helped in developing a Project Proposal and Work plan to the UNDP for the allocation of funds under the Thematic Trust Fund programme for capacity building for Police personnel.

The outgoing IGP has also developed a Project Proposal and a work plan to the National Governance Programme for allocation of funds under the Consolidated Democratic Governance Programme for capacity building and preparation towards the December 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The IGP has also planned, organized and co-ordinated 20 human right training programme for 440 police station officers throughout Ghana. These are but few of his achievements.

Unlike the Paul Quaye, Prof. Out Nartey has presided over a management that was whole imbued with corruption, importation of expired drugs and reagents, signing of contracts without due and procurement procedures.

Readers can recall that The Moment published a story on how Prof. Out Nartey took away his duty post vehicle. Interestingly, reports gathered from the hospital indicate that he claims the car has been given to him as his Ex-Gratia.

But reliable information gathered from the Ministry of Health pointed out that the Ministry is not aware of such decision and it is even being compelled to get another car for the Ac ting CEO, Prof Afua Hesse.
