The Bissa (Busanga) Community in Ghana has honoured one of its illustrious sons for his contribution to the development of his people and Ghana at large.

The honour was conferred on Ibrahim Baba Bukari, a transporter and electrical engineer with the Ministry of Energy at a durbar held at the Kawokudi Park in Accra over the weekend.

Other personalities, including farmers and businessmen, were also honoured at the program that attracted Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives (DCEs), Chiefs, Imams and the Burkina Faso Ambassador to Ghana.

A citation for the awardee read: ??You are indeed a beacon of hope for the Bissa Youth.?

In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Ibrahim Baba Bukari thanked the Bissa (Busanga) people for recognizing his efforts towards uplifting the image of his people.

?Even though I don?t do what I do to get any reward for myself, it is refreshing to know that what one is doing is being recognized by one?s own people. We have bigger plans for the Bissa people in Ghana, and in the next few years, the results will be more evident.?

Ibrahim was born and raised at Asankragwa in the Western Region, and attended the Kikam Training Institute.

He was accompanied to the program by several members of the Bissa Youth Association from the Brong Ahafo Region where he has done a lot of philanthropic work.

The event, which also attracted Bissa (Busanga) groups from all over the country, was characterized by cultural displays, and a show of wealth amidst ululations.
