10 officers at the Pharmacy Department have been interdicted
Interdicted Director of Pharmacy at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Elizabeth Bruce says the procedure of ordering her and nine others to step aside for investigations into operations at the pharmacy to proceed was unfair.
According to her, the board should have handed her a copy of the statement announcing their interdiction before making it public.
A statement issued on Thursday, January 29 announced her interdiction and that of nine others including a pharmacy manager and three senior pharmacists for the misappropriation of GH? 945,574.29 after a forensic audit was conducted into operations at the Pharmacy Department.
?I feel I should have been given a copy to discuss with my staff,? Mrs Bruce said.
?I think in that vein I have not been treated fairly but otherwise it is a policy.?
She expressed these sentiments to TV3?s Daniel Opoku in an interview on Friday, January 30.
She was optimistic investigations to be conducted by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) as stated in Thursday?s statement will justify them.
According to her, the Pharmacy owes Ernest Chemists almost GH? 2m and so the GH?20,000 detected to have been misappropriated does not hold.
?From what we have done, I don?t know what went wrong but it is not our fault,? she mentioned.
?At the end, I am sure we will be proved right.?
