The award ceremony, organized by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), was held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra under the theme ?Consolidating Integration, Promoting Growth and Enhanced Revenue Mobilization for National Development?.
The report said the event provided GRA the opportunity to honor 13 leading taxpayers in the West African gold, cocoa and oil producing country.
Other recipients of awards included Scancom Limited, Ecobank, and Kasapreko, producer of assorted alcoholic beverages.
The GRA said Huawei Technologies (GH) S.A. Limited had improved over 400 percent in the payment of taxes despite economic challenges in the year 2014.
Deputy Minister of Finance Mona Helen Quartey urged Huawei and the other award winners to be honest and truthful in the declaration of the right amount of taxes to help the government to accrue enough revenue for national development.
Philip Li and Gideon Obeng, both officials of the company, who received the award on behalf of Huawei Technologies, expressed appreciation for the recognition from the GRA.
Obeng, a Public Relations Officer, said Huawei was committed to fulfilling all its tax obligations as a good corporate citizen.
Huawei has also contributed to Ghana?s development, particularly in the provision of ICT solutions for the government of Ghana, telecom network equipment, IT products and solutions as well as smart devices.
Huawei has a total of 800 employees, with local employees accounting for 84 percent and 660 technical engineers for on-site support services and project implementation.
It has also positioned itself as the best innovative ICT partner in delivering efficient and integrated digital logistics system for a better connected world. Enditem
