ATOM Get Familiar: Hiplife newcomer, Atom

?Though my friends used to call me Atom because I had a small body structure, I embraced the name for its scientific meaning. I decided to use Atom as my stage name because I want to send the message clear that, like an atom, I may be small in the game but soon the game can?t stand without me.?

That is how new hiplife sensation, Atom, answered when asked the reason for choosing that name.  Though highly-affiliated to Tema-based acts like R2BEES, D-Cryme and Stay Jay (who he described as his mentor), the Abeka-based rapper said, he was poised to put his neighborhood on the map as far as rap is concerned. He has been hanging out with a lot of his the big names in Tema to learn some trade secrets from them.

?I don?t want to be just another rapper, but like Jay Z and Diddy, I want to make a business out of rap music. That is why together with my manager, Nana Fori, I have set up Reload Records to put myself and other underground acts out there. We are already working with two other rappers.?

Atom has recorded two songs with Tema-based Mix-Master Garzy (Stay Jay?s my baby, D-Cryme?s Koom koom). Steve Gyamfi?s Real House directed a video for one, Ab3 we cash, currently out on youtube. A Stay-Jay-assisted number, my heart dey go, has also been on rotation on a couple of clubs and pubs now.
