Hat-trick Dream For Notts County Ghanaian Hero Lloyd Sam

Sam, 27, put the Magpies 1-0 ahead against the Glovers in the first half at Meadow Lane and then hit two late goals to clinch the win, after Jonathan Grounds had equalised for the visitors.

Notts are now in sixth place with four games left of the season and Sam, who is on loan with Notts from Leeds United, said: “It feels amazing. After I’d scored the first two and I got into the box at the end I would normally cross. But it’s not every day you get a chance to score a hat-trick so I went for it and thankfully it went in. It was a great feeling.

“It feels even better as it’s a massive win for us because we’re in the play-offs now.

“Normally these things happen and then I wake up from a dream, I’m not joking. But I’m guessing this is not a dream!”

There was controversy over Sam’s second goal, however, with Yeovil goalkeeper Sam Walker claiming he had the ball in two hands before colliding with the Magpies’ winger.

“I think I bounced into their defender and then collided with the keeper.

“He might have had two hands on it, I don’t know. He came to me after the game and said he had, but I’ve got my hat-trick and nobody is going to take it away from me,” said Sam.

“This is the most goals I have scored in a season and I’ve done it in six games.

“That is why I jumped on the gaffer because I needed a manager to believe in me and he has done that, which has given me a lot of confidence.”
