The much hyped media commentary that Labor Party gubernatorial aspirant, Great Ovedje Ogboru will get sizable number of votes from Ukwuani like in the past, since he is maternally linked to them was dashed on Friday, as everyone in the entire community not only abandoned him like a motherless child but also dumped him.

This was a fallout of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa campaign visit which left Asaba at 9:14 am (Nigerian Time) to Ukwuani Local Government, where the trained first went to the palace of the Ezionu of Ukwuani Kingdom, HRM Comr. Evang. R.C. Osanwuta to solicit for their support and blessing.

Then the bombshell was broken by the King that on the 10th of January, all the kings in Anioma land met at Emu and agreed that all Anioma children of voting age should vote for Okowa. Again on 17th January at Umunede, they met again where it was signed and sealed that never shall their votes be divided, between Okowa and any guber aspirant, including Ogboru who comes from there but to direct all votes to the PDP guber aspirant. With that said, the hope of Ogboru getting any vote from Ukwuani was killed.

Okowa expressed joy at the decision, and acknowledged that in the past, the PDP has always had problems polling votes from Ukwuani. He also met with the elder where he pleaded with them to turn the smiles used in receiving him into votes, stating that how they vote for him will also determine how his government will be geared positively towards doing much.

At the campaign venue where thousands of people gathered to receive him, Okowa assured them that ?Nobody will tell me what to do to Ukwuani because it is my duty to develop Ukwuani?, pleading with them to deliver him as the next governor with wide margin of votes.

The campaign train which touched down at Ogwashi-Uku was a spectacle to behold, as beautifully dressed costume ladies were on hand to add color to the occasion. Picking the microphone to speak at exactly 4:20 pm, Okowa sang one of his gospel favorite song ?I?m standing on the rock?, before singing another one in Anioma language.
He once again told the jubilant crowd that ?The Lord has chosen me for this journey and also chose my deputy for me?. He noted that he doesn?t just make promises just as linking the rural roads in Ogwashi-Uku to the urban areas, but he speak because it is by the power of God which gives him utterances. ?It is my promise to support you so gthat you will own businesses. Between myself and Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, we will make life better for you people?, he promised
