THE Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Thursday locked up the offices of Africa Automobile company, a leading retailer of Hyundai vehicles for non-payment of taxes.
This follows the company?s indebtedness to the GRA to the tune of GHC6 million of Value Added Tax (VAT) which accrued for over two years.
Officials of the GRA said the locking up of the Hyundai car dealers formed part of its distress action to clampdown on companies which owed the revenue authority.
They said the exercisewas aimed at collecting outstanding debts from recalcitrant customers of the service.
GRA officials and personnel from the Police Service will pay unannounced visits to establishments and lock up the premises of defaulting customers as part of the exercise.
