He expressed the readiness of the GNA to accept journalism students from the U.S on internship programmes that would enable the two sides to share knowledge.

Dr Otabil said this when Mr Daniel Fennell, the newly posted Minister-Counselor of the Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy section of the US Embassy in Accra, paid a courtesy call on the GNA Management.

He extolled the importance of mentorship and called for the institution of programmes which would provide mentorship programmes where people in a particular field of study could be sent to the US to be mentored, and vice versa.

The CEO also emphasised the virtues of the new media and said the GNA was prepared to leverage on the advantages of new technology as was being done by other international news agencies, to improve upon its efficiency and service delivery.

He expressed his appreciation for the visit which, he said, was an indication of the importance the Counselor attached to the Ghanaian media, and the Agency in particular.

Mr Fennell assured the Management of GNA that his outfit would help the Agency to become more vibrant and also furnish it with adequate information about the programmes of the US Embassy.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of freedom the media in the country and the citizens went about their activities.

?Ghana has been warm and spicy since I arrived and I have listened to a couple of radio stations where people are able to express their opinions freely?, he said.

He presented a book entitled ?Encyclopedia of the New Media?, which is a reference book on digital media, to the Management of the Agency.

Accompanying Mr Fennell on the visit were Madam Jeane L. Clark, and Mrs Joyce Asiedu, both of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Accra.
