With the partnership, GIBA would provide the platform for education to increase awareness on social issues such as the indiscriminate disposal of refuse and its impact diseases and socio-economic development.

Mr Julius Debrah, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, announced this when the Executive of GIBA, led by Mr Gerald Ankrah, Executive Director of GIBA, paid a courtesy call on him in Accra, on Wednesday.

He said the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the country, especially in Accra, is the cause of the sanitation problem the country is facing so the Ministry had directed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to intensify education to prevent diseases.

He said the Ministry is making serious efforts to avert future waste and sanitation related problems and his outfit welcomes every partnership that would help to achieve the goal.

Mr Ankrah said GIBA, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, would contribute their quota towards the Clean Ghana Campaign by offering air time on the various platforms of radio and television to promote the concept.

He said this was the first move made by GIBA in this regard, and pledged the association?s commitment to continue partnering with institutions towards solving national social problems.

He said this would ensure that Ghanaians are extensively educated on essential social and how to find preventive and curative answers to them.

The Association, has consequently, donated airtime to the Ministry for public education and adverts on radio and television for the campaign.

The two Deputy Ministers of Local Government, Mr Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye, Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, and Mr Emmanuel Kwadjo Agyekum, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South, were at the meeting.
