Mrs Molly Anim Addo, Ghana?s Ambassador to Italy has presented her letters of credence to the recently sworn in Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale, Presidential Palace.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, on Tuesday, said Mrs Anim Addo was accompanied by three members of staff of the Embassy, namely, Mr Hussein Mohammed and Ms Khadija Iddrisu, both Ministers Plenipotentiary and Mr Robert Aguba Second Secretary.

Mrs Anim Addo, whose team was picked at Ghana?s official Residency in Rome by officials of the Presidential protocol and chauffeured to the Presidential Palace, Quirinale, inspected a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Italian Armed Forces at the courtyard before she was welcomed by the Military Advisor at the Quirinale.

She was then handed over to the Head of the Presidential Protocol to present her letters of credence to President Sergio Mattarella in the Hall of Tapestries of Lille.

The President, after receiving the letters of credence invited Mrs Anim Addo for private discussions in camera.

Mrs Anim Addo later recounted how interested President Mattarella became when he learnt about her role in the declaration of the affirmative action in Ghana a few years ago and the quota system of ensuring 25 per cent of women were appointed into public institutions.

She congratulated him on his election to the high office of the land and gave the assurance that she would work towards an extensive bilateral discussions considering the role of Italian firms in the Ghanaian economy.

The Italian President promised to consider taking steps for the advancement of his country?s women.

President Mattarella also assured Mrs Anim Addo of his readiness to cooperate in finding solutions to the numerous challenges confronting third world economies.

He added that, he supported the linking up of the private sectors of the two countries for miscellaneous ventures in the interest of the two countries.
