While the biggest opposition New Patriotic Party and other smaller parties are optimistic of supplanting the ruling National Democratic Congress in the 2016 generals elections, a renowned Muslim cleric, Malam ShamunaUstaz Jibril, does not believe that the Ghanaian elections will come off next year as scheduled.

Short of elaborating why there would not be elections in 2016 as Ghana?s constitution demands, Malam Shamuna Ustaz Jibril, who is credited with many predictions which he attributes to God and through his powers, noted that although Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was likely to be elected president in 2016, he nevertheless, doubt if there would be elections at all.
Sharing his view on upcoming elections in some African countries, the respected Muslim seer was quoted as having predicted massive victory for NPP?s 2016 flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo in Ghana.
But he said ?I, however, doubt if there is going to be elections in that year. Should there be elections, however, the foregone are the results to be registered.?
It would be recalled that Leader and founder of Glorious Word Ministry International in Accra, Owusu Bempah; head of Legal Department of ADB, Mr. James Agbedor and others have raised similar concerns about the 2016 elections.
Rev Owusu Bempah was last year reported to have said the 2016 general elections would be characterized by violence and bloodshed if Ghanaians do not pray ceaselessly ahead of the polls,
?In the revelation, I saw trouble looming and a terrible wind blowing over the country, I saw bloodshed and I was alarmed,? Rev. Owusu Bempah told journalists at his Busia-Junction Church, urging the clergy to pray for the country in order to prevent any tragedy. ?If we don?t pray to avert the situation, what happened to Cote D?lvoire and Liberia might befall us too,? the man of God warned.
Similarly, the Head of legal department at ADB was also reported last year to have said that disaster looms over the country and that the country should put in place appropriate measures to avert it.
He said ?The observation and research I have made indicates that there are dark clouds hanging over the country. In the next 25 months, Ghana is likely to witness a civil strife through election violence.?
His statement was supported by Managing editor of The aL-hAJJ, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu, who also stated ?The country is sitting on a time bomb which is likely to plunge it into civil strife during the 2016 general elections.?
Alhaji Bature, therefore, appealed to religious leaders, civil society organizations, the National Peace Council, the security agencies and eminent personalities in the country to rise up and adopt measures for peace, before the 2016 general election.

He said for the first time in the history of Ghana, the country ?may experience chaos.?
Ask to justify his assertion Alhaji Bature said ?the belligerent posture taken by the opposition party portends a gloomy picture for the country for the next general elections, which would be held in November 2016, if the current constitutional amendment goes through.?

?You don?t need a soothsayer or a Mallam to tell you that the country is heading for danger,? he warned.
According to him, the opposition had made strenuous efforts to run down the Electoral Commission (EC), the security agencies and the Supreme Court, against their defeat in the 2012 elections.

?The recent call by the Ghana Bar Association for the Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, to step down is fuelling the NPP?s claim that the EC is not a credible institution,? Alhaji Bature said.
