Ghana government has integrated 20 agencies including Ghana Post, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Ghana Police Service (GPS) into a one-stop administration service centre.

The ultra modern state of the art service centre was handed over by the Huawei Technologies Limited to the Ministry of Communications to facilitate the delivery of Government services to citizens under the e-Government programme.

In December 2013, the Ministry of Communications called on the Huawei Technologies Ltd to expedite work on this important component of the First Phase of the e-Government Platform Project to enable the immediate online delivery of some government services, taking advantage of the broadband infrastructure being built to reach all parts of the country.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony in Accra, the Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah was happy to take delivery of the One-Stop Service Centre as part of the first phase of the project, and expect the early commencement of the next phase of the project to support the deployment of full data centre services and Long Term Evolution (LTE) sites for the functioning of the e-Government network.

He explained that; ?the facility is a well decorated service hall with up to twenty service counters, office equipment and administrative offices. You would also find LED screen display systems, broadcasting and surveillance systems?.

Dr Boamah was quick to add that the LTE technology has been deployed to facilitate data transmission at 4th?Generation speed levels.

This he said would ensure that the service centre provides one-stop services for all Ghanaians with fast and professional business operations by the agencies that will be located here.

The minister was also excited about the fast delivery of this project by Huawei Technologies and the deployment of latest ICT technology which is also a demonstration of what the e-Government Platform Project will provide when completed.

Dr Boamah urged: ?With the completion and delivery to Government of this One-Stop Service Centre, it is our expectation that the Government Service Agencies and I must also add private sector organizations, will take utmost advantage of the robust ICT ecosystem and conduct operations online most of the time.?

The project has in the first phase delivered LTE network, provided Tele-Presence deployment, Call Centre for e-Government services, Metro fibre, Local Area Network for Government MDAs, Secondary Data Centre in Kumasi, supply of Desktop Computers and other ICT terminal equipment to MDAs, and now, this One-Stop Service Centre.

The First Phase of the Project is already supporting the operations of Government institutions and supplying broadband speed faster than that provided by the local carriers? 2G and 3G networks.

The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) is expected to provide the technical back-stopping to ensure the maintenance of high-performing service levels of the project.
