Ghana Must Have Peaceful Elections

The Junior Common Room (JCR) of Mensah Sarbah Hall, University of Ghana is calling on all Ghanaians to contribute in making the December, 2012 general elections a success. This year’s election will be another test of the Nations Democracy as one of the best democratic Nations on the African Continent which Ghanaians cannot afford to gamble with.

The students of Mensah Sarbah Hall University of Ghana, plead with all Ghanaians to be decorous in our actions and inactions as we approach the General Elections. By this all Ghanaians must be tolerant, refrain from the use of abusive words and exercise an immeasurable degree of self control because these are indispensable tools imperative to make the general elections violent free.

Vikings and Okpo-mates (Students from Sarbah Hall) will also like to appeal to the youth especially students as the conscience of the Nation to critically evaluate the policies of the various political parties before making a choice based on competence. Moreover, this election should transcend tribal and religious barriers because we are not a collection of one ethnic or   religious group or the other; rather we are a collection of Ghanaians.

Mensah Sarbah JCR also calls on the flag bearers of the political parties in the persons of His Excellency Prof. Evans Atta Mills, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo, Dr Paa Kwesi Ndum and Mr. Abu Sakara to embrace and enforce the tenets of healthy competitions because they cannot implement their noble intentions if the nation is in a state of melee and potpourri.

Finally, the JCR of Mensah Sarbah Hall beseeches the Electoral Commission to continue the good work that they have started and conduct the 2012 General Elections with spotless incredulity. The Ghana police service should also rise to the occasion to maintain the best possible law and order since orderliness an exigency in holding peaceful elections.

God Bless our Homeland Ghana and let all hands be on deck to make this elections a cut above the previous elections in the history of the country.

Thank you very much.

Signed:

Edward Tuttor (JCR President)
