February 9: Zambia Beat Ghana By A Lone Goal:

The Chipolopolo of Zambia defeated the Black Stars of Ghana by a lone goal in the Semi Finals of the African Cup of Nations hosted by Gabon and Equitorial Guinea.

Zambia’s substitute Emmanuel Mayuka scored behind the Stars eighteen box with only 12 minutes remaining to be played. With the tournament’s favourites Ivory Coast cruising to the finals by beating the Malians by the same margin via an individual brilliance goal by Arsenal forward Gervinho, they will square off with the Zambians in the finals.

February 9: Factions In The Black Stars Camp After Lose Against Mali:

Few hours after losing to the Zambians in the Semi Finals in the on-going African Cup of Nations in Gabon & Equatorial Guinea, the team’s camp was erupted with factions.

Skipper John Mensah, striker Asamoah Gyan and dribbler Andre Dede Ayew led different factions in the team to rebel against each other as well as point accusing fingers for their lose. Some of them also felt the son of the maestro was too young to have been given the captain’s armband after exchanging blows with Anthony Annan.

February 10: No Show For Betty Mould Iddrisu At PAC Over €94m Judgment Debt:

Embattled former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Betty Mould-Iddrisu refused to testify in the probe into the payment of €94 million judgment debt to a construction firm, Construction Pioneers when she appeared on the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.

Mrs. Betty Mould maintained that it would be difficult to comment on the issue since she has no access to documents relating to the agreement. The committee led by Kan-Dapaah was disappointed but concurred with her.

February 10: Citizen Kofi Owner, Kofi Amoah Ready To Help In Woyome Investigations:

Dr. Kofi Amoah who was the head of the Local Organising Committee of the CAN 2008 tournament in Ghana has said that he is ready to appear on any public inquiry to defend his role in the award of contracts for the construction of stadia ahead of the continental showpiece. He said he has nothing to hide so whenever he is invited, he will gladly accept the invitation and help with the investigations.

February 10: Alhaji Bature Accuses Osafo-Marfo Of Benefiting From Woyome:

The Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature accused Yaw Osafo-Marfo of benefiting from the GHC51 million paid to NDC financier, Alfred Agbesi Woyome. The editor said Woyome sponsored Osafo-Marfo’s presidential big in 2007.

February 11: Kofi Adams Fingers NDC Chairman Kwabena Agyei:

NDC General Secretary Kofi Adams has fingered Kwabena Agyei, the NDC National Chairman for playing the victim in a letter sent to the President to hurriedly arrange a crisis meeting to address certain issues in the party.

Mr. Adams, who doubles as the spokesperson for the Rawlingses said Mr. Agyei complaints are uncalled for since he is equally to be blamed for the woes in the party.

February 11: Woyome Scandal Likely To Hurt President Mills & NDC In Elections 2012:

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has stated that the Woyome scandal is likely to hurt President Mills and his NDC government in the December General Elections.

Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome, a business man and NDC’s financier was paid GHC51 million as judgement debt. Though he has been arraigned before court, the EIU said regardless of how the matter ends, it is likely to play a major part in the party’s defeat in the polls.

February 11: Ghana Is In A State Of Leadership Paralysis:

New Patriotic Party flagbearer for the 2012 General Elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his interaction with the Ghanaian community Texa, USA said that, Ghana is facing leadership paralysis.

He said even though Ghana is blessed with natural resources, the Mills-Mahama led government is retarding the progress of the country. He said the country needs a competent leadership urgently who is result oriented and that leadership is the Akufo-Addo administration.

February 11: Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin Enstools Regent Of Kwabeng:

The Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin has enstooled the Regent of Kwabeng, Nana Adjei Twene as the Gyantuoahene of the Akyem Abuakwa state here in the Eastern Region.

The elevation of the 58-year-old chief, who is known in private life as Dickson Adjei Twene, the Chief Executive Officer of the MacDick Royal Plaza in Koforidua, was in recognition of his leadership finesse and development projects he initiated and executed at Kwabeng as regent for the last l7years.

February 11: Ghana Loses Third Place Match:

Ghana’s Black Stars failed in their bid to place third at the African Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea as they were crushed by the Malians in the third place match played yesterday in Gabon. The Black Stars lost by two goals to nil; the same score line was recorded when Ghana beat them earlier in the group matches.

February 11: Sports Analyst Christopher Opoku Calls For The End Of Black Stars Coach:

Following the penalty miss by striker Asamoah Gyan and Ghana’s dreams of winning its 5th AFCON trophy curtailed, many Ghanaians blamed the country’s top man for failing to convert the spotkick but sports analyst Christopher Opoku has said that, the Stars coach is a lazy trainer and needs to be shown the exit.
