Ghana Coach Wants Nations Cup Success

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has turned his attention to winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations after securing qualification at the weekend.

The ex-Ghana captain ensured his side beat Malawi 1-0 in Lilongwe on Saturday to advance to the finals 3-0 on aggregate.

Appiah will know his opponents for the on 24 October when the draw is held in Durban, South Africa.

Ahead of that tough encounter, he wants to etch his name in Ghana?s footballing history by ending the country?s 32-year wait for silverware by the time the tournament kicks start.

?Being a coach my ambition was to try and qualify the nation to the Cup of Nations,? said Appiah.

?Now we will do our best to repeat what we were able to do in 1982.?

Appiah was assistant coach when Ghana won silver at the 2010 finals in Angola and a fourth place finish in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea early this year.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nation will run from 19 January to 10 February.
