Gh-One Entertainment TV Introduces “Next Big Thing”

AFTER the huge success of the maiden edition of the Independence Comedy Jam sponsored by RLG Communications, the nation will in a few weeks witness the unveiling of yet another exciting concept from Gh-One Entertainment TV.

Dubbed as “Next Big Thing”, it is the search for the nest biggest rapper to put Ghana on the international music map. It is an all new music talent hunt show targeted at exceptionally talented amateur rappers.

In recent times, Ghanaian music has witness a transformation from being a mere source of fun and entertainment into a commercially viable trade worth several millions of Ghanaian cedis. This is accompanied by global acceptance of Ghanaian musicians internationally.

“Next Big Thing” will commence with the search phase to witness a series of grand auditions to begin in Accra. This will be replicated in Kumasi and Takoradi where amateur rappers will be given the platform to justify themselves.

A panel of judges to be constituted by seasoned music professionals well vexed in the area of rap music will put the candidates through a series of drills. These will include a freestyle acapella, rap to their preferred beats before going on to generic beats.

All candidates that qualify from the auditions gain automatic admission into the Boot Camp. There, they will engage each other in rap battles to reduce the number to 24 to be presented for the semi-finals stage. 12 victorious candidates will return to continue with the Boot Camp.

In what is referred to as “Off Stage Tasks” to include photo shoot, design of Album cover and recording of an audio track, 2 candidates will be eliminated to bring the number to 10 who will battle for the ultimate at the grand finale.

The ultimate winner walks away with a recording contract in addition to guaranteed shows. The winner also will enjoy overwhelming promotions on Gh-One Entertainment TV aside other media platform as part of a calculated attempt to attain mainstream success.
