“This transformation would further strengthen business structure and marketing network focused on development of Chevrolet brand by presenting high quality and competitive products for Indonesian customers,” GM Deputy President Executive and GM International President Stefan Jacoby said in a statement released on Thursday.
After the closing down of its plant that produces Chevrolet Spin cars scheduled in June, Jacoby said that GM Indonesia chapter would continue serving Indonesian customers with various types of Chevrolet cars comprised of Orlando, Captiva and Trailblazer.
Chevrolet Spin production facility was initiated in 2013. It has a capacity of 40,000 cars per year and employs 500 people.
Due to stiff competition against cars produced by Japanese carmakers in MPV class, GM was only capable to sell 8,412 Chevrolet Spin cars last year in which 3,000 of them for export. Enditem
