Former Un General Secretary Kofi Annan Lauds Fifa For Goal-line Technology

Former United Nations General Secretary Kofi Annan has congratulated FIFA for the introduction goal-line technology in football.

World football?s governing body FIFA approved the use of goal-line technologies to prevent big-game mistakes.

The decision by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), custodians of the game?s laws followed a vote at the Zurich headquarters of FIFA, the international association of football federations on Thursday.

The historic decision taken by FIFA has been met with a mixed reaction but the former UN chief who himself a strong football enthusiast has saluted the decision by personally phoning the president of FIFA to congratulate him on that.

FIFA president Joseph S Blatter wrote on his official twitter page: ?Just got a phone call from Kofi Annan with his congrats on ?#GLT? and football?s ability to connect people.?

The 74-year old Ghanaian who rose through the ranks of the UN to become its General secretary in 1997 is one of the most influential personalities in the world.

He has never hidden his passion for football and has shared his views on a range of football relates issues.
