Ghanaian striker Ferdinand Takyi lands trials with English side Wimbledon

Ferdinand Takyi is a huge Ghanaian striker on trials in England

English side Wimbledon have taken Ghanaian striker Ferdinand Takyi on trial ahead of the new season.

The 19-year-old Germany-born striker has been given a chance to earn a deal with the club.

The Ghanaian has hit the ground running by scoring in his first friendly match for Wimbledon.

Takyi had spent a large portion of the summer on trial with league 1 outfit Yeovil Town.

He featured in pre-season friendlies against Basingstoke Town and Torquay United but a deal with them doesn?t look to be in the offing with him ?allowed to pursue other options elsewhere?.

An experimental U21s faced Canvey Island this week and Takyi was named in the starting XI, he would have impressed the on-looking Neal Ardley by opening the scoring after just 15-minutes.

Canvey came back an won 2-1 in the end but has Takyi done enough to earn another Dons chance?

The 6ft 2ins player who originally hails from Ghana is believed to have plied his trade with German fifth tier outfit TB Uphusen at some point before linking up with UKFT, as well as Eintracht Braunschweig under-19s.

A great athlete, superb pace, strength on the ball, who has electric acceleration, good in the air, a strong shot and great touch.

His vision and awareness was outstanding and he showed himself to be polite, intelligent and good personality.
