The Electoral Commission has called the bluff of the Progressive People?s Party (PPP) over threats of going to court to challenge the electoral body?s decision to exclude them from the electoral reforms committee.

The PPP has served notice it will sue the EC for giving priority to the two main political parties on the 10-member Committee established to help implement Electoral reforms ahead of the 2016 elections.

The ruling National Democratic Congress and the main opposition New Patriotic Party have been given two slots each on the Committee while the 22 other minority parties have all together been given two slots too. The Committee is mandated to study the various reforms and advise the EC on their implementation.

The Director of Public Affairs of the EC, Christian Owusu-Parry, said it is within the PPP?s right to seek legal redress but they have done nothing wrong.

?It is their right to seek redress in court if they think that they have been treated unfairly? the committee is a committee of the Commission so the decision to have four parties representative, three Civil Society representatives and three people from the Commission was the decision of the Commission,? Owusu-Parry told Accra-based Citi FM.
