Ghana?s award-winning rap artiste, music producer and sound engineer, E.L. has been nominated as the Most Gifted New Comer for the 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards scheduled for Saturday, November 17 at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, South Africa.

The Ghanaian musician earned the nomination with his video, ?Turn The Lights Down? and he is competing with five other African artistes.

His fans can make him win by sending an SMS text message ?3C? to +27839208406.

Organizers say this year, voting will take place across a wide suite of digital platforms including Facebook voting; (http://www.facebook.com/channelotv).

D Black and Sarkodie have also been nominated for other categories.

E.L. told NEWS-ONE he was particularly excited about the nominations and expressed the hope that his fans would not let him down just as he had also not let them down.

Spread across 14 categories, this year?s Channel O Music Video Awards will showcase original African music ? befitting to the music channel- that has steadfastly flown the flag for Africa?s musicians and music for well over a decade.

?We continue to recognize and acknowledge the magnitude of African music and musicians.

The nominations in this year?s awards are yet another reflection of how Channel O is celebrating African musical talent, how it keeps growing from strength to strength and how we keep striving to stay Original African,? said Leslie Kasumba, Channel O Africa Manager.

Now in its ninth year, the Channel O Music Video Awards is the only public-voted annual music video awards show broadcast around the continent that exclusively features African artistes.

Voting opened midnight on Saturday, 1st September and closes at midnight on Thursday, 8th November.

E.L. recently released his debut album which has two CDs with 25 hot tracks and two bonus ones at a time his colleague artistes have resorted to releasing single tracks.

What is even more historic is the fact that 95 percent of the tracks on the new album, ?Something Else?, were produced by E.L. himself right in the studios of BBnZ, the company managing his career.

He discovered his talent early in life and later developed his singing skills with a group called Skillions during his secondary school days at PRESEC, Legon.

He has been working hard behind the scenes in Ghana, sharpening his voice and composition skills and working on collaborations.
