Dr Mensa Otabil,General Overseer of ICGC
The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) has unveiled eight variant spectacular-looking shades of cloth designed from the finest fabrics, as part of the commemoration of their 30th anniversary, at the church’s auditorium on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
This year’s cloth has been designed to meet the different tastes, and to suit all occasions of its members across the globe. The brilliant creative piece of fabric comes with the beautiful designs of the ICGC, two diamond rings, the Bible, the ‘gye nyame’ symbol, a stair case; signifying the church’s commitment to development in all spheres of life, the logo of ICGC, the map of Africa, a wine glass for communion, a woman offering prayer to God, among others.
The celebration of this year’s anniversary, would, of course, be an extraordinary one in the history of the church after its long charismatic journey from Accra, where it first started in 1984 with about 20 members in a classroom, then to the Baden Powell Hall, Adabraka, before moving to its current ultra-modern edifice at Abossey-Okai.
Speaking at the special event, Founder and General Overseer of ICGC, Dr Mensa Otabil, whose sermon was themed: “Precept Upon Precept” (Isaiah 28:9-10), used the occasion to admonish members of the church to continuously commit themselves to “sowing seeds of diligence in order to attain excellence.”
He added, “Success in life doesn’t come by one big rush, but being committed doing things in a principled manner over and over again” and continued, “To achieve anything big in life, you have to muster the ‘PRINCIPLE OF RECIPROCITY’ (Genesis 8: 20-22).
The church, whose philosophy is centred on practical Christianity, human dignity and excellence, had over the years influenced the lives of its members and other people from different faiths.
To climax the event, there was a fashion show which exhibited array of splendid styles designed from the ICGC cloth, put together by some talented fashion designers in the church, to treat members of the church to what to choose from, when considering what to wear for February 28, when all members would ‘GO ICGC’.
