The campaign organisation of Prince Dayo Adeyeye, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Adedaayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM) has berated the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for allegedly using public fund to promote his second term ambition, describing it as criminal.

Speaking through its Director General, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, PAAM also lambasted the governor for describing Ekiti people as rumour-monger, saying; “It is the height of irresponsibility for a governor to open his mouth wide and say that Ekiti people, including himself are rumour-mongers and Fayemi must apologise to the people for insulting them.”

In moves that suggest that he might be strategising ahead of the 2014 governorship election, late last year, Governor Fayemi had toured the 177 wards in the State and donated N1 million to his party, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in each of the wards. Also, few days ago, he donated some buses to the youth and women?s wings of the ACN in the state.

While making the vehicles donation at the ACN secretariat on Ajilosun Street in Ado-Ekiti, capital of the state, after meeting with the executive of the party led by the chairman, Chief Jide Awe, Governor Fayemi had described Ekiti as the number one rumour mill in Africa.

In a release issued today, PAAM said Governor Fayemi must tell Ekiti people the source of the funds he has been doling out to his party men in the last three months, alleging that; the governor must have wasted over N400 million Ekiti State fund on his party people in the last three months.

PAAM also said Fayemi must rescind his comment describing Ekiti people as rumour mongers and apologise to the people, adding that; “It was Fayemi and his ACN propagandists that introduced the culture of rumour-mongering to Ekiti State with the ridiculous lies they told against the Segun Oni-led government, one of which was that incisions (gbere) were made on eggs with which primary school pupils were being fed.”

The statement read; “We have followed with keen interest the way and manner funds meant for the development of Ekiti State are being spent on second term ambition of Governor Fayemi and we demand a stop to this criminal act.
