No fewer than 3,000 Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, members, including some prominent ward, local and state executives in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, yesterday decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The exercise which took place simultaneously in Koko, headquarters of Warri North and Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area, was led by Chief Solomon Ogomugo, Chief Godwin Oligoron and Chief Robert Pablogba.

Receiving the decampees to APC, Chairman of APC in Warri North council, Chief Markson Ebiareneyin, represented by a stalwart of the party in the state, Mr Amorighoye Mene, said that the decampees had decided to join APC in order for the party to form a formidable opposition to wrest power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming council elections and in the 2015 general elections.

Ebiareneyin assured the decampees that they lost nothing by joining APC as the party intends to give them equivalent privileges as enjoyed by old members of the party, adding that victory was sure for the party at the general elections.

He berated the ruling PDP for what he termed as gross underdevelopment in the council and attributed what he termed high poverty level of the people of the area to poor management of the resources accruing to the council by subsequent regimes of the ruling PDP.
