Nwankwo a suave young businessman and philanthropist of an unrivaled love for the needy has become a literal moving political volcano that has just erupted in Anambta state. He was reputed to have been touching lives discreetly in the state without any fanfare or undue publicity for more than two decades. That it was why his eventual acceptance to join the political race suddenly raised the political bar in the contest for the seat in the constituency, across all parties.

His victory at the party primary was as dramatic as his joining politics and choice of political party to settle down in. Some rabble rousers had stoked some smear campaign geared at fleecing some funds unduly from him, accusing him of working against other political parties and government. Unfortunately for them, the more they try, the more popular they make him. It even got the youths and women of the state so incensed they sent a strongly-worded letter to the principal actors in the smear campaign, warning them to beat an instant retreat or face their wrath. The black-legs even carried their subterfuge to the party primary. But Nwankwo, propelled by the people sued for peace and concord, stressing they were all brothers and sisters.

He reasoned that since it was in the service of the people and for their good, it would be condignly necessary to have an open, transparent and widely acceptable process. Three attempts were made before the traducers gave up, having lost woefully in all the three. That notwithstanding, Nwankwo, aka ‘Onye ndozi’ the peaceful creator, assured the citizens that he is going to the National Assembly to attract more democracy dividends and poverty alleviation programmes, that would improve the quality of life in the area. And that he was coming out on the prompting and collective will of the people; he was therefore ready to allow all aspirants have an clear process such that as they arrived the venue as brothers and sisters, there was need for them to leave at the end of the day as same.

So it was, that at the end when he emerged with an overwhelming majority of votes he was carried shoulder high by all. Every of the unsuccessful aspirants turned round and joined his convoy and they followed in a long motorcade for the White Castle Hotel, Neni venue through the Neni community, Nimo and then down to his Enugwu-ukwu countyrhome and celebrated together as a family.

Today, all the communities, traditional rulers, religious/community leaders, professional groups, women/men/youth organizations and political parties within his Federal Constituency have resolved that he is their choice for the House of Representatives job. Also, most of his other opponents who had challenged him for the seat have joined him and turned themselves into his campaign coordinators within the areas.

Nwankwo is a very visible quiet man. He is a household name within the state, especially his Federal constituency who has over the last two decades given out about 3000 scholarships, free medical treatment for more than 60,000 constituents annually, skill acquisition, soft/revolving loans for businesses, Keke to more than 500 youth, women/youth empowerment, widowhood support and more than 600,000 free exercise books to pupils annually. Others include foreign surgeries for serious ailments for constituents, commuter buses to youth, micro credit, barbing/hairdressing salon equipment, and many others”.

Nwankwo’s campaign train has berthed at Nawgu, Ukwulu, Adazi-Nnukwu, Nimo, Abagana and Enugwu-Agidi. He has also been to Neni, Akweze, Adazi-Enu, Adazi-Ani, Abagana, Nawfia, Nri, Agulu, Agulu-Uzoigbo, Obeledu and Enugwu-Ukwu amongst other communities, spreading his message of goodwill and hope for a better and greater tomorrow. At each location, his convoy was usually received with fanfare and great enthusiasm by thousands of citizens who have waited for long to see the man who has over the years rescued them from squalor, ill-Heath, conjunctivitis, glaucoma, cataract, rheumatism, hunger and others.

As the crowd surged forward to touch and embrace him, he assured them that he’s bringing the foreign medical team into the country for this year’s annual free medical mission immediately after general elections next month.

Mr Chijioke Okafor from Ukwulu confirmed that this popular yearly programme now occupies prominent position in the calendar of all the natives who he described as visibly appreciative, within the three councils of Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia in its more than 20 years existence.

Okafor noted that his community always dutifully writes a commendation letter to Nwankwo annually, for his kind gesture and benevolence. That the programme covers general medicine, surgery, ophthalmology/ophthalmic surgery, lenses, ENT, dental surgery, and has also given out thousands of insecticide-treated nets to the citizens.

Another community leader from Enugwu-Agidi, Chief Sam Oraegbunam, who commended Nwankwo for accepting the cries of the people for him to contest, described him as very popular experienced politician who is very close to his people. That through his kindness and act of benevolence has made him a household name all over Anambra state, he was not leaving anything to chance. He has gone round the communities and continues to do so either as a group or as an individual seeking for their votes, support and electoral mandate. He also looks good to step into the big shoes left behind by the late sage, Owelle Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, in popularity and selfless disposition.

It was believed that with his ever-growing popularity within the constituency hitch transcended his political aspiration, Nwankwo looks good to sweeping the stakes in the Feb 14 National Assembly elections into the Federal a House of Representatives. The people say he merits it and has actually worked for it too.
