RESIDENT PASTOR of the Sunyani Branch of Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Rev. Emmanuel Ayisi-Mensah has cautioned Christians not to joke with their salvation because God paid a valuable price for it.

He said the greatest salvation of humanity has come through Jesus Christ and man has no excuse to abandon it because God will not take any excuses for our continuous sinful lifestyle.

He indicated that through Christ’s death the entire human race has the right to become children of God. “The greatest message is that God is making sons and daughters for himself through Christ Jesus,” he added.

Pastor Ayisi-Mensah was preaching the sermon to open a four-day Easter convention of the church held at the PIWC auditorium in Sunyani.

The power-filled convention was under the theme: “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3).

Speaking on the topic: “What is the Truth?” Pastor Ayisi-Mensah explained that Jesus Christ is the only truth and those who do not confess him as their personal Saviour and Lord have drifted from the truth.

According to him, Jesus Christ, the only son of God was sent to the world to redeem mankind from their sins and He is now God’s medium of communication through whom God speaks to his people in the world today.

Chaplain at the 3rd Infantry Battalion in Sunyani, Pastor Cornelius Edem Lotsu, also said Christ’s coming to the world has placed believers in a special position.

He was delivering a sermon on the topic: “What it means to become a son of God” at the convention on Good Friday.

Pastor Lotsu entreated Christians and Ghanaians in general not to treat Christ’s death as a mere celebration. According to him, anyone who professes to be a Christian has a price to pay by renouncing all ungodliness and worldly passions and living a self-controlled and upright life.

Climaxing the convention on Easter Sunday, the New Dormaa District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, Rev I.O. Koranteng who preached the sermon titled: “A great mission to fulfill,” noted that the cost involved in the salvation of mankind is so great because Jesus Christ who was sacrificed for the sins of the world has no equal.

As part of activities marking the convention, members of the church embarked on prison and hospital visitations to preach the word of God to the inmates and also prayed for God’s intervention in their situation.

There was a special evangelism team which also visited the security forces to minister the word of God to them.
