Kwame Kobri Darko: I am very disappointed in Nana Akufo-Addo

wpid-flagbearer-of-the-NPP-Nana-Akufo-Addo.jpgI am very disappointed in Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He has shamefully failed to demonstrate the leadership qualities he parades himself as having and instead adopted violence to create deep-rooted divisions in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

For close to a week, he hasn’t mastered the decency to condemn the vile utterances of Kennedy Agyepong made during a telephone interview on Adom FM. Indeed during that interview the firebrand clearly said that Nana Akufo-Addo was at that moment standing right next to him – a claim the later has yet to deny.

The loud silence of Nana Akufo-Addo speaks volumes?of his endorsement of the interview which was full of attacks and insults against Former President Kufuor, Mr Kwadwo Mpiani and Dr Richard Annane – one could imagine Nana Addo giving him a high five of approval afterwards.

Not surprisingly, the office of Nana Akufo-Addo rather dimmed it fit to respond to Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy on the same day when he shared his opinion on the unfortunate happenings in our party.

It is assuredly known that Nana Akufo-Addo and his clique are behind the crude acts of aggression and violence that have recently gained a foothold in the party. It is a growing gangrene that must be bled out with dispatch.

Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy was right in expressing the worry that “Ghanaian’s are increasingly asking whether the candidate who is actively dividing his party can, as President, unite Ghana. Respectfully, Nana must know that he cannot reach the Presidency standing on the ashes of a divided, demoralized and disgraced NPP”.

Nana Akufo-Addo is the direct beneficiary of Kennedy?s smear campaign in this internal contest.?I want to state it on record that I believe that when Kennedy Agyepong was insulting J. A. Kufuor and others; the twice defeated presidential aspirant was right there and very happy because he seems to enjoy the damages Mr Kennedy seeks to achieve by his utterances.

Over half a decade, supporters of NPP were made to believe that Kufuor did not help Nana Akufo-Addo in his pursuit of Ghana’s presidency in 2008 and 2012. Kennedy Agyepong’s latest loathsome episode on radio goes to reinforce the notion that, the man who is already perceived as vindictive, still hold grudges.

Nana Akufo-Addo has deliberately decided not to condemn that actions of his Central and Western Regional campaign coordinator, not to speak of an attempt to atone. He will wait till the damage is caused before he hypocritically comes out to say he wasn’t aware of it.

As a party we can?t continue to malign our leaders and think that the Ghanaian voter is not watching. I am therefore pleading with the handlers Nana Akufo-Addo to advise him better.
