Security has been beefed up in Diaso, a town in the Dunkwa-On-Offin District of the Central region following bloody clashes between two royal families on Monday.

One person, according to Dunkwa-On-Offin District Police Commander, Superintendent Dela Dzansi, one person, identified as JT, died in the riots.

He said several people were also left with scathing injuries.

Supt. Dzansi told XYZ News that both factions ?Asuna and Akona ? fired gunshots at each other.

They clashed over who had the right to install a new chief for Diaso.

There has been no love lost between the two clans for the past seven decades over the Diaso throne.

The situation deteriorated two decades ago when each of the royal clans attempted to install a new chief.

Although none of them went ahead with the installation, it marked the beginning of a bitter enmity between the two clans.
