CWSA inspect progress of work in W/R

Board members of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) have paid a working visit to some projects sites within the Western region to inspect the progress of work as well as interact with staff and major stakeholders within the region.

Community Water and Sanitation AgencyThe three-day working visit, started with a courtesy call on the Regional Minister, followed by facility visit and ended with a staff durbar at the CWSA regional office.

Mr. Clement Bugase, Chief Executive Officer of the CWSA, together with Nana Ababio II, Board Chairman of the Agency, and some board members, started the facility inspection at Agona Nkwanta, where Iron and manganese removal plant had been installed to filter the water to make it potable for drinking.

From Agona-Nkwanta, the team stopped at Esiama, where a developer had built on the site demarcated for a pump house. They called for immediate demolition of the structure to pave way for the pipe works.

There were issues of quality with the Nkroful pump house but the board assured the District Chief Executive that engineers would rectify the problem.

The Board of Directors later visited Jappa, where an aqualite water treatment plant was being built to serve an estimated population of 8,250 over a ten year period.

Mr. Bugase and his team again visited the Nananko-abreshia water supply scheme, designed to serve over 5,000 population. But to the dismay of the Board, illegal mining was being carried out at the project site, thereby polluting the underground water.

Nana Ababio II, who did not take kindly to the act, therefore, ordered the immediate closure of the trenches.

At Beppoh, the team inspected the over one million Ghana cedi project being developed with the IDA funds.

The Chief Executive Officer of the CWSA said the Government of Ghana and IDA sustainable rural water and sanitation project was to provide potable water to deprived communities, improve sanitation and the general well-being of people.
