Court remands two men for fighting over a woman

Akim Oda (E/R), April 20, GNA – The Akim Oda Magistrate Court has remanded two men are in police custody for fighting over a woman whom they had all married before.

Emmanuel Yaw Tawiah, a farmer and Joseph Kennedy Owusu, palm wine tapper pleaded not guilty to acts intended to disturb public peace and would reappear on April 25.

Briefing the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah stated that the two friends lived at Akim Asene in the Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern Region.

Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said Tawiah married Madam Adwoa Bosuo but fell sick and was admitted in hospital.

He said during the period Madam Bosuo got married to Owusu and had a child who died later.

The prosecutor said when Tawiah was discharged from the hospital Madam Bosuo divorced Owusu and went back to her former husband.

Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said since then Owusu started trailing the ex-wife and Tawiah and the matter was reported to the police.

When Owusu was interrogated said he wanted to reclaim everything he bought for Madam Bosuo including the money spent on her during their relationship.

The prosecutor said at about 2230 hours on March 5, Owusu met Tawiah and Madam Bosuo in town and demanded that his ex-wife should pay back GH¢50.00 he gave to her, but Tawiah did not take kindly to it and this degenerated into a misunderstanding, which resulted in a fight.

The two men later reported themselves to the police and were given police medical report forms to attend hospital, before they arrested.
