Chelsea snapped up talented Ghanaian midfielder Christian Atsu from FC Porto in the summer and immediately loaned him out to Vitesse Arnhem in Holland.

Vitesse have several of Chelsea?s youngsters on loan, including the likes of Lucas Piazon, Patrick van Aanholt and Gael Kakuta, and Atsu is another that has found first-team football away from Stamford Bridge.

Vitesse are currently in second place in the Eredivisie on goal difference, having led the league table for a short time and the influx of Chelsea players has definitely aided their quest for a first Dutch title in 99 years. Let?s scout how Atsu is getting on in Holland to see if he could be a success in England when he returns.

The Ghanaian missed Vitesse?s first eight games but has not missed a match since, starting nine and appearing as a substitute once. He has picked up a couple of Man of the Match awards since appearing for the first time and although he may have been outshone by Piazon, he has put in some fine displays on the wing.

Atsu is a tricky winger who thrives in one-on-one situations, he has a 67% take-on success rate this season and has won 15 fouls for his side.

Atsu has created 18 chances for his Vitesse teammates. He loves to cut in from the right, allow the full-back to overlap and create on his left foot. He has the ability to pick a pass from anywhere in the final third and can thread a ball through a defence for a teammate to latch onto at any given moment when he cuts inside.

He possesses lightning speed which enables him to get that half a yard on a defender and beat them on the inside or the outside. Atsu has set the Eredivisie alight at times this season when he has been at his best but there is certainly more to come from the artful winger.

He can play off the striker but he is definitely better on either flank where the potential for a one-on-one situation is most likely.

When he does cut in and shoot rather than find that killer pass, Atsu has the ability to shoot with accuracy. 62% of his shots have hit the target this season and although he has only scored once, there is certainly more to come.

Atsu may have been a somewhat strange acquisition for Chelsea in the summer as they already have a wealth of attacking options both at the club and on loan but he is certainly a talented footballer who can only get better.

At 21-years-old there is still plenty of room for improvement and a run in Vitesse?s team will do him the world of good.

Whether he will be able to break into the Chelsea side when he returns is another question, but there is no doubt that Atsu possesses a wealth of potential which will benefit Vitesse for the remainder of the season.
