The Youth Network Alliance, a bipartisan youth group having at heart the development of mother Ghana, is deeply worried and notes with grave concern a statement made by former Attorney General and Minister for Justice,Martin BK Amidu ,in a recent article he issued titled ‘National Anti-Corruption Action Plan Not The Solution’ which was widely publicized in both the print and electronic media.
In that article, the Hon. Martin BK Amidu alleged that prior to his dismissal from the Office of Attorney-General, he, on the request of the Director of CID provided to the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice’ a trove of overwhelming, cogent and credible documentary evidence’ unseen in his unprecedented years as deputy Attorney-General and subsequently Attorney General; for investigation into the seminal case of bribery and corruption brought against some Ghanaian public officers by the Government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

He further alleged that to cover up and/or stifle the investigation, the documents may have been burnt by the Commission or her offices.

He then threw a challenge to the Commission to comment on why in spite of the evidence he had submitted to them they had failed -as mandated by the Constitution of the Republic- to investigate the issue.
These allegations are serious in particular as it bothers on the integrity of a Commission set up by the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana to inter alia ensure the highest standard of integrity among Public Offices.
Ordinarily we would have ignored the statements made but we cannot. The Hon. Martin BK Amidu is a man of great honor and someone not give to loose talk.

It is for this reason that we challenge the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice to respond to these damning allegations of inappropriate and breach of duty made against them by the Hon. Martin BK Amidu.
We challenge them to deny that they are no stooges for the Government neither did they cover up the corruption perpetrated by the Government Officials cited in the Maybey and Johnson Scandal.

We further challenge them, in setting the standards of accountability to release all relevant information on the said scandal and directly respond to the allegations made by the Hon. Gentleman directly and specifically.
We also request that the Commission investigates the circumstances under which the report on an investigation into a supposed assassination attempt on Benjamin Kumbor was criminally covered up by the Government.
