Children’s Day Celebration Useless-Group

The Bring Back Our Girls Campaign Group has stated that there was nothing to celebrate during the Children?s Day following the abduction of schoolgirls from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
The former minister of education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili-led group stated this during its usual everyday 3pm village square meeting at the Unity Fountain Square Abuja.
The group added that as long as the abducted girls were still in the bush and living with terror group, Boko Haram, celebration of the day would be uncalled for.

The group also commended states who have cancelled the celebration of the Children?s Day because of the abducted and yet to be released girls.

The coordinator of the group, Hadiza Bala Usman had also in a press release called on Nigerians who were concerned about the safety of the abducted Chibok girls to wear red today in solidarity with the children.

?Children?s Day is supposed to be a day set aside to celebrate the younger generation ? a generation which is terribly endangered in Nigeria due to the activities of terrorists. In the North-East, children have been killed and abducted and we must do what we can to ensure that this threat against them is decisively tackled and permanently eliminated.

?In line with this, the #BringBackOurGirls campaign team would hereby like to ask that everyone who is concerned about the safety of the abducted Chibok Girls and wishes to help, wear red on Children?s Day. This would help to signify that we are united in this fight against terrorism and the infringement on the right of the girls (and other children in the region) to education.

?We would also like to state that we are extremely grateful to people all over the world for the immense support that they have shown the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, and sincerely hope that we all get to share the joy of seeing our girls rescued and reunited with their families soon,? she said.
