?Ant-Man? star Evangeline Lilly has revealed what changes Paul Rudd and Adam McKay brought to the screenplay, which was initially written by Edgar Wright. The actress who will play Hope Van Dyne in the film said that the new screenplay ?is so much more American.?

In a recent interview, Lilly shared, ?I met with Paul in a little restaurant in New York City, and he talked me through how the movie was changing.? She continued, ?I think the most defining difference between the two scripts was that Edgar?s didn?t take itself as seriously. It was fun and silly and brilliant irreverent ? a romp from beginning to end, in classic English fashion,? before adding, ?Whereas where we?ve gotten to is so much more American. There?s tons of levity, but just as much emotion.?

Wright who was previously tapped as director and writer for the film left the project due to creative differences. Several changes he had made to the screenplay were reportedly the catalyst of his departure. Some of the changes included Nano Warrior being renamed Yellowjacket, a car chase being scrapped, and a number of characters being cut.

Wright was later replaced by director Peyton Reed. Reed revealed that he contacted the previous helmer after accepting the job. He also noted that some of Wright?s more ?English? ways still might show up in the upcoming film.

Produced by Kevin Feige, the film centers on Marvel?s superhero who has the ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength. Rudd and Lilly are in the cast which includes Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Hayley Atwell, Michael Pena and Judy Greer. It is set for a release on July 17 in the United States.
