Change in Heart in Stubborn & Corrupt King?

0
In the end, the inhabitants of “Animiakrom” have got the message. They have vowed to never continue to sit on their lap doing nothing while some chiefs claiming to wield unrestricted powers take them for fools. They have neither public toilets nor enough home toilets yet, the so-called His Majesty the King of “Kasepreko” and his criminal lieutenants are bent on exploiting them to the hilt via the First Lady.
We are no longer the simpletons of yesteryears, says an audacious inhabitant of “Animiakrom”. For how long shall we maintain our silence in the face of utter provocation by “Odisika Kalabuleman, Nana Adufrupe the sunken eyes” and their ilk? Our people die from periodic outbreaks of cholera and typhoid fever emanating from the unsanitary conditions in which they live, he says.
Enough is enough. It is about time we took them on by telling them off. Traditionally, His Majesty the King, “Odisika Kalabuleman” has no power over us. However, he is shamelessly conducting himself as though all the inhabitants of “Animiakrom” with their land and everything therein belong to him. Are we at his beck and call? He must be joking if that is his presumption or perception of the “Animiakromians” of the land of “Ahufo3”, said another furious “Animiakromian”.
His Majesty the King, “Odisika Kalabuleman”, summoned his colleague-chiefs-in-crime to an urgent meeting to find the way forward out of the impasse. He spoke directly to his lieutenants without the traditional help of a linguist or of that of “Nana Adufrupe the sunken eyes”. He said, “Friends, colleague-chiefs, I have called you here today to seriously address an issue that is making me lose sleep. You are very much aware of the fact that I have said time and again that I have developed tough skin. However, my skin is now wearing thin. I am actually hurting. It gets to me when people insult me because of my persistent dubious actions. So take note of that. Again, all of us here today connived with the First Lady of “Animiakrom” to offer her family the throne that has been lying vacant for years. We actually did take some money from her. We did also agree on some promises that you cannot deny before God, the stool that I occupy, the spirits of the departed souls and the lesser gods. Now, it is not only the Supreme God that is haunting me at night when I go to sleep, but also, the spirits. I sweat profusely; keep turning in bed, seeing horrible scenes when I enter into bed at night. What do we do?”
“Nana Me nnpe Meho Asem” stood up and said, “I told you so. It is your own cup of tea, deal with it. Did I not tell you not to accept any bribe but to give the throne to their rightful owners? Did you not shout me down along with others? Have you now realised that the wages of dishonesty is insomnia?”
“Nana Adufrupe the sunken eyes” took his turn, as obstinate and unreasonable as he has always been. He said we do not have to worry about this issue at all. Is it the first time that we have accepted bribes in this palace and on chieftaincy issues? It has backfired and so what? We cannot always have it our own way. Let us pull all the plugs, resorting to our connections in government to save us from bruising. We cannot always have our cake and eat it.
I wonder how shameless a person you are. Do you still seek to wallow deeper in dirt as does the pig? No wonder your eyes are what they are, deeply embedded in their eye-sockets and you cannot see properly, said “Nana Me nnpe Meho Asem”. Nonsense, shouted “Nana Adufrupe the sunken eyes”. Sit down and stop playing altruism. The mistake has been committed and we need a solution but not insinuations.
Truth is only one. There is no half-truth or absolute truth but TRUTH. Let us apologise and give the throne to their rightful owners even though they are poor. Any attempt to do differently will culminate in worse things to come. The “Animiakromians” have started sending out unpalatable signals or warnings to us. How can we be wicked to the extent of always seeking to exploit these people who are without even public toilets and defecate in their backyards? Are we that wicked to continue to exploit the ignorance of their First Lady to our advantage, said “Nana Me nnpe Meho Asem?”
“Order, order, said His Majesty the King. I summoned you here to find a solution to a problem that is beginning to attract national interest. It is disgraceful that I should be on the news for bad reasons all of the time. I do not know if I am jinxed or I always listen to bad advice from people like “Nana Adufrupe the sunken eyes”. I have the obligation to turn a new leaf. It cannot continue like that. What at all do I need all this bribery money for? Did I not come into this world naked and naked shall I go? Is good name not better than riches?
I shall tell the truth and beg God and the people of “Animiakrom” for forgiveness of sins. I have sinned against them. Poor as they are, I still did not have the decency to have pity on their plight but saw the benefit of selfishly exploiting the ignorance of their First Lady to my advantage. There I sit today drenched in shame, said His Majesty the King.
We have to get the elders of “Animiakrom” to mediate with the offended parties and the furious inhabitants on our behalf. It takes a man to put up his hands to say sorry. I feel really sorry for my waywardness. I know how most of the people of “Kasepreko” are annoyed with me. They will not hesitate to throw me out of the throne if I should persist in my deplorably selfish and greedy ways. I shall soon part friendship with bad company to turn a new leaf for the better.
The meeting is closed pending the outcome of my contacts with the elders of “Animiakrom”. The First Lady is evil. She does not listen. She always wants to have her way in all things. I shall no longer fall for her ploys, so help me God, prays His Majesty the King withy tears trickling down his cheeks.
