Castors Make Impossible Tasks Possible

0

Castors, we see them every day as we look around our homes and places of work. Then when we go out it seems like no matter where we are we can’t get away from them. They just make so many of the things that we do as we live our lives easier and more convenient. Even so there’s still a lot that we don’t see; larger jobs that would be virtually impossible if not for castors.

The first one that comes to mind is space exploration. Here’s a fine example of how mankind has gone to the furthest reaches of technology to do amazing things that required a number of smaller tasks along the way, tasks that were made possible by castors.

But you don’t have to look to space to see how important they are.

Auto manufacturing is another method where castors play a crucial role.

Henry Ford is credited with developing the assembly line manufacturing process but all the credit for making it actually work can be hung on castors. Without them cars and pretty much any large manufactured consumer item would have to be built one at a time which of course would have a profound effect on the pricing.

Average people probably wouldn’t be able to afford a car if it were not for these little round wheeled devices that are used to transport all the parts around the factory as they’re being built.

The same thing also goes for things like refrigerators, washers and dryers, and so many other items that make our lives nicer and easier to live.

They also work to make our world bigger too by way of mass transit because if they were all to disappear today, tomorrow we would once again be travelling by horse and buggy.

Take airline flight as a perfect example of this, when you arrive at an airport virtually everything is riding on them; the conveyor belt that carries your luggage, the transport carts and even the garbage cans that are spaced around the terminal.

Everything rolls on castors but you can also bet that there’s no way an airliner could ever be built or take flight without them.

Of course they’re there throughout the manufacturing process but the working mechanism of today’s modern giant jumbo liner is full of them. So just imagine what the world would be like if countries had to go back to being isolated and out of touch with one another as they were a century ago.

Would the world be a better place to live in like it was back then? This highly doubtful because lack of communication leads to distrust and distrust is one of the seeds of conflict. So in a way it can be said that castors also work to promote and keep world peace.
