In a statement, the minister said Burkina Faso’s socioeconomic situation remained characterised by disruptions of public order, threats to the security of individuals and their property as well as threats to state security.
Barry said credible sources had revealed that some politicians working with certain civil society organizations and trade unions, were planning to destabilize the political transition.
He added that money was continuously being distributed to the population to cause social unrest.
SMSs containing direct threats to individuals and the transition government had been intercepted and secret meetings to plan for disruption of public order had been discovered, the minister affirmed.
Barry said that there were plans to burn down the National Transition Council building to prevent a vote on the electoral code, and that some individual members of this institution had received threats.
He threatened to arrest anyone or any group found culpable of causing disruption to public order, threatening the security of individuals or threatening state security.
A number of Burkina Faso trade unions have promised to organize nationwide protests on April 8 to denounce the high cost of living. Enditem
