Burkina Faso has failed to meet the deadline for switching television broadcasts from analogue transmission to digital transmission due to “insufficient financial means.” digital
Burkina National Television and other private television stations in the country continue to broadcast on analogue platform, whereas June 17, 2015 had been fixed by the International Telecommunication Union as the deadline for the switch over.
The switch over from analogue to digital transmission was set to cost Burkina Faso a total of 40 billion CFA Francs (over 66 million U.S. dollars), yet the state had only mobilized 8 billion CFA Francs.
In March, Burkina Faso government said talks were at an advanced stage with banks and other financial institutions to find the remaining 32 billion CFA Francs to acquire and install the technical infrastructures. Enditem
