The gunmen reportedly tried to free some of their members in detention

Men suspected to be members of Boko Haram, early this morning, attacked the headquarters of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Abuja. Police officers engaged the attackers in a prolonged gunfight that led to many residents of the area felling the territory. It was gathered that the gunmen attacked the police base in an attempt to free some of their members being held in custody. The gunmen were eventually repelled by the police. No casualties have been ascertained as at the time of this report. The attack is coming less than 24 hours after suspected Boko Haram members detonated explosives at a church in a major military training compound in Jaji, Kaduna State. The police, last week, declared the leaders of the sect wanted, placing a total of N240 million bounty on them. Combined police and army officers have cordoned off the area of the attack and are said to be combing the vicinity for the fleeing gunmen.
