Clement Adoda, the new Police Commissioner in Borno, said that he would work toward ending the Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
Adoda stated this while addressing newsmen on some suspected criminals arrested by the command in Maiduguri.
He said that the police had always been in the vanguard of ensuring peace in the country.
He said the police was working in concert with other security agencies in the country to bring an end to the insurgency in the nearest possible time.
“I believe the insurgency will soon be over going by recent successes recorded by security agencies,” he said.
The commissioner warned that the police was determined to fight crime and criminals in the state.
“The command wishes to warn criminals and criminal elements in the state to change their ways and become good citizens.
“We will not relent in our fight against criminals and criminal elements in the society,” he said.
One of the arrested culprits was Abdlrahman Iliyasu, one of the suspected killers of an Immigration officer, Stephen Bassi.
Iliyasu was arrested in Kano on August 22, following investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.
