Accra, March 24, GNA – The biometric voters’ registration exercise commenced peaceful at the Ayawaso Central Constituency of the Greater Accra Region but, prospective voters at some registration centres complained of late start of the exercise.

When the Ghana News Agency visited Pigfarm, Newtown and Tiptoe lane centres in the constituency, turnout was low.

At the St. John Metal Works centre at Pigfarm, Mr Abdallah Yakubu, a prospective voter, complained of the late start of the exercise, and said he waited for more than one hour before registration officers came.

He said the registration process was very slow and cumbersome and that “It is 10am now, I registered about one and half hours ago, but I don’t have my ID Card yet because the registration officers said they have no lamination machine.”

Mr Awudu Mohammed, also a prospective voter, said the registration officers had problems, and cited the Information Communication Technology personnel, who were using computers to enter data.

The registration officers, however, declined to comment on the issues raised by the potential voters.
