Tamale, March 27,  GNA – The Nanumba North District Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Ibin Abass has dismissed calls for his resignation saying that the group making those calls had no basis since he has delivered creditably in developmental projects to the people.
He said the group calling for his dismissal accused him of siding with one faction of the Bimbilla chieftaincy dispute, an accusation he said could not be substantiated.
Alhaji Abass was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on Tuesday on the sidelines of the handing-over of 20 trucks to MMDAs in the Northern Region.
He said through his efforts the district had benefited from 107 new infrastructural projects out of which 70 per cent had been completed and were in use by the beneficiaries. He also noted that such an achievement was unprecedented in the history of the area.
The DCE said 15 communities had been connected to the national power grid through the rural electrification project while additional 15 communities would benefit this year from similar projects.
Alhaji Abass said the district had achieved remarkable improvement in educational facilities resulting in successes in the just ended BECE with the district emerging as the best district in the Northern Region and ranking eigth nationwide.
He said such successes had been made possible because there was enough classroom accommodation for all students, as a result of which the shift system was abolished, making students to have more time and space to learn.
Alhaji Abass said though there were pockets of conflict in the area, the security situation had generally been enhanced and called on all objective analysts to be fair to him and commend him for his performance instead of calling on him to resign.
He advised the group to  make an appeal through the proper judicial process if they had any genuine grievances, adding that those accusing him were among the aspiring candidates who had lost to him in the recent NDC primaries and urged the public to disregard them.
