Some disgruntled National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth on Thursday set ablaze the party’s constituency office in Bimbila.

Their action was in protest against the Northern Regional House of Chiefs’ verdict on the protracted Nanumba chieftaincy dispute.

The Regional House of Chiefs at its last sitting declared Naa Andani Abdulai II as the legitimate chief of the Nanumba Traditional Area.

The Gbugmayili Royals have given all indications that there would not be peace in the Nanumba Traditional Area until the decision is reversed.

Abdul Rauf Junaid, the spokesperson for the Gbugmayili Royals accused the Regional House of Chiefs of being bias.

“The Bimbila constituency NDC office was set ablaze this morning by the youth in Bimbila who supported and voted for the NDC strongly in the 2008 elections: the action is to send a strong signal to President John Atta Mills-led NDC administration that they are dissatisfied with the ruling,” he explained.

Withholding names, he accused some NDC bigwigs in the region of masterminding the House of Chiefs’ verdict.

He announced the Gbugmayili Royals will be holding a news conference in Tamale on Friday to expose those personalities.

“Some faceless personalities in the NDC played key roles in the verdict of the House of Chiefs just to ensure that Mr. Andani won for them to achieve their selfish interest, and tomorrow in Tamale, the Gbugmayili Royals will be holding a news conference to expose those people,” he added.

Simultaneously, the party’s Wulensi and Nakpachei offices were also destroyed.
