Bayelsa State To Join Force With Israel For Rapid Development

image_11The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd), has said that the State Government was ready to collaborate with the Israeli Government in order to achieve rapid development in the State.
He said this at the King Koko Square, Nembe when the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Uriel Palti paid a one-day visit to Nembe City, in Nembe Local Govermment Area of the State.
He further stated that the people of Nembe were happy with the historic visit of the Israeli Ambassador to Nembe City, urging him to tell the Bayelsa story as well as the Nembe story on his return to base.
Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd), also recalled the famous Akassa Raid that was executed by the Late King Koko of Nembe, noting that the people of Nembe in the days of yore fought so many battles successfully.
The deputy governor also described the translation of the Holy Bible from English language to Nembe language by the Late King Constantine Ockiya in 1856 as a feat that serves as the selling-point of Nembe history.
In his speech, the Israeli Ambassador, Mr. Uriel Palti expressed profound appreciation to the people of Nembe Kingdom for the warm reception accorded him, stating that the visit was quite educative and enlightening as it afforded him the opportunity to learn more about the rich history and culture of the Nembe people.
Ambassador Palti also remarked that his country, Israel was willing to partner with the State Government in the areas of agriculture, tourism and industrialization where it has comparative advantage.
Earlier, Ambassador Palti was taken to some historical and cultural sites such as the tomb of King Constantine Ockiya, Mingi VII, the Mausoleum of King Furday Kulo, Mingi IV, canon relics, some colonial structures, depicting colonial architecture as well as the Nembe City Square which is the first place of settlement and the most sacred point of the City, where an oak tree has stood for over 300 years.
On the entourage of the Israeli ambassador were; Mr. Tony Obiechina, Senior Media/Political Officer, Mr. Chika Ajaegbu, Culture and Public Diplomacy Officer, both of the Embassy of Israel while top State Government functionaries include; Commissioners of Information and Orientation, Deacon Markson Fefegha; Environment, Mr. Iniruo Wills; Finance, Mr. Duate Iyabi and Barr. Francis Ikio, Mineral Resources as well as Special Adviser on Agriculture, Mr. Koku Obiyai and the Director-General, Bayelsa State Tourism Development Agency, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown.
