Banyana Banyana coach Joseph Mkhonza has recalled three senior players, including Mamello Makhabane and Yola Jafta, for today’s friendly against Ghana.

The match, which forms part of Human Rights Day celebrations, will take place at Soccer City and not at Orlando Stadium as was announced earlier.

Kickoff is at 3pm.

Besides Makhabane and Jafta, Mkhonza has also drafted University of Pretoria defender Cindy-Leigh Meyer into the team that toured Brazil and Cyprus.

Makhabane plays for Sasol National Women’s League champions Palace Super Falcons, while Jafta does duty for University of Johannesburg.

“We are ready for Ghana, the match will also help us in our preparations for the 2012 London Olympics,” Mkhonza said yesterday.

“Ghana are ranked number two in Africa, they have some excellent players. We have to beat teams like these to prove that we are ready to do well at the Olympics.”

Mkhonza once more emphasised that the door for selection to the Banyana Banyana team that is set to compete at the Olympics in July is still wide open.

“We are embarking on road shows in search of new talent, we have to send the strongest possible team to the Olympics to make South Africa proud. There is no way we will send holiday-makers to London,” added the former Kaizer Chiefs, African Wanderers and Katlehong City player.
