A brand new international standard boxing ring is expected in the country from South Africa for the much publicized Bukom Banku-Ayittey Powers bout before the end of this month, officials of Multichoice Ghana have confirmed.

Country Manager of Multichoice Ghana Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, at a press conference at the Accra Stadium yesterday, hinted that the initiative was a clear demonstration of his company?s commitment to boxing in Ghana.

?We are committed to boxing, and we are using this bout as a step to a bigger platform. Telecasting this bout will be taking Ghana boxing to over 50 countries in Africa.

?This fight goes beyond what you may be thinking. The whole world would be watching and so what you trade in the ring on that day will go a long way to shape your careers. I wish both of you well on that day,? he told the boxers.

Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) president Peter Zwennes revealed that the clash of the two popular boxers was an opportunity to showcase Ghana boxing.

He commended corporate entities like Multichoice Ghana, TV3 and Happy FM for their respective contributions towards ensuring the successful staging of the fight.

Rates for the May 16 big bout, according to promoter Alex Ntiamoah of Box Office Sports (BOS) Promotions, are GH?100 for first ring side, GH?50 second ring side and GH?10 for popular stand.

Tickets can be purchased from the Koala, Airport Shell, Joy FM, Happy FM, TV3, Multichoice and some designated points in the capital as well as the regions.

According to the organizers, tickets bearing April 18, the date for the fight, remain valid.
